OBJETIVOS
Primero. Encontrar y potenciar la voz de las y los cineastas. Nuestra forma de trabajar permite identificar y reconocer el vínculo entre quien crea y lo que busca explorar y expresar. Es desde ahí de donde aparece la forma justa de decir lo que se quiere decir, así como la capacidad de cuestionarse, al tiempo que se cuestionan los límites del cine como forma y medio para tomar posición frente al mundo y atrapar la vida.
Segundo. Asegurar la pertinencia y la calidad creativa. Las obras que pasan por WALDEN tienen que ser un reflejo de nuestro tiempo y a la vez tratar con cuestiones universales. Más allá de sus particularidades, las películas de WALDEN comparten cualidades esenciales para hacerlas contemporáneas y perdurables: el deseo, la necesidad, la curiosidad genuina, la vulnerabilidad. Pero también el rigor en el proceso, el compromiso, la responsabilidad, la exigencia formal, la osadía.
Tercero. Apuntar a la finalización de las películas que participan en la residencia. Escribir una película sólo tiene una razón de ser: hacerla. Es decir, darle forma, producirla, acabarla. El programa está diseñado para poder acompañar las películas en el tiempo, es decir irlas acogiendo cuando haga falta y verlas evolucionar, empujando límites, creciendo, haciéndolas existir para quien una vez las proyectó pero también para los o las demás.
Cuarto. Hacer visible y potenciar el trabajo de las películas acogidas por WALDEN. No solamente buscamos que las películas tengan una relevancia creativa, sino que existan
socialmente, encuentren su lugar, se hagan presentes. El compromiso no es sólo que se finalicen sino aportar todo a nuestro alcance para que sean visibles, es decir, para que
encuentren el mejor camino posible para ser compartidas.
OBJECTIVES
First. Discover and enhance the voices of filmmakers. Our approach allows us to identify and acknowledge the bond between the author and what they seek to explore and express. It is from this point that the right way to say what one wishes to say emerges, along with the capacity for self-reflection, whilst simultaneously questioning the limits of cinema as a form and a medium for taking a stand in the world and capturing life.
Second. Ensuring relevance and creative quality. The works that pass through WALDEN must reflect our times whilst addressing universal issues. Beyond their specific characteristics,
WALDEN’s films share essential qualities that make them contemporary and enduring: desire, necessity, genuine curiosity, vulnerability. But also rigour in the process, commitment, responsibility, formal precision, and boldness.
Third. Aim for the completion of the films participating in the residency. Writing a film has only one purpose: to make it. That is, to shape it, produce it, and finish it. The programme is
designed to accompany the films over time, that is, to welcome and support them when needed and watch them evolve, pushing boundaries, growing, bringing them to life not only for the one who once imagined them, but also for the viewer yet to come.
Fourth. To give visibility and make the films hosted by WALDEN stand out. We seek films of creative merit; we also want them to have a social existance – find their place, make their
presence felt. Our commitment extends beyond simply ensuring the films are completed; we are dedicated to doing everything within our reach to ensure they are visible, they are seen, in other words, so that they can find the best possible way to be shared.
